Angeles City’s Booming Call Center Industry 2022

A bustling city located in the heart of Central Luzon, Philippines, Angeles City is one of the best cities to live and work outside of Metro Manila. Since its humble beginnings as a backwater village that had gained its autonomy from the province of Pampanga. From which it enjoys autonomy to pursue its own economic, political and cultural vision that is rapidly turning into reality.

Recently, it has become a leisure and business destination for both foreign and domestic investors alike. In addition to that, its proximity to Clark Freeport Zone, on which it has partial jurisdiction also contributes to its booming call center industry.

What surprises most is that Angeles City’s Call Center industry has adapted well during the pandemic. A full year of restrictive lockdowns didn’t completely impede operations. Moreover, the covid response of Angeles City’s local government minimized the spread of COVID-19 by implementing effective measures.

Angeles City is a highly urbanized city with an educated population, good infrastructure and a business-friendly policy implemented by the local government. That being said, Call Center Companies from all over the world are scrambling to find a location on which they can capitalize a competent workforce, well-built infrastructure and a pro-business policy by a government to make their business resilient, competitive, and profitable.

Numerous accessible educational institutions for the population has led to a 95% literacy rate. Moreover, a relatively young population eager to work for outsourcing companies shifted their preferences away from traditional careers.

A portion of the area of Clark Freeport Zone is under the jurisdiction of Angeles City. Clark offers 100% foreign owned companies to lease land for a maximum of 50 years. Tax incentives and holidays are also given to companies who are willing to relocate in Clark.

Cumulatively, the stability of Angeles City in terms of social, political and economic stability is the envy of neighboring provinces. The national government located in Metro Manila plans to move their headquarters to Clark. Moreover, a reliable police and the presence of military bases has reinforced security against internal threats.

Ongoing public and private partnerships to improve existing infrastructure and build new ones such as the newly opened Clark International Airport, North Railway project and multiple expressways that will connect Manila, Subic and the Northern provinces intersects Angeles City. With that in mind, Angeles City’s central position will benefit everyone, not just BPO companies.

Large full-service BPO companies such as Cloudstaff, Clark Staff, Accenture, iQor and Majorel have been operating in Angeles City for decades. To put simply, the presence of small to large BPO companies indicates that Angeles City is perhaps one of the best locations in the Philippines to set up facilities.

Ultimately, Angeles City ticks all the boxes to fulfill the current and future needs for BPO companies. Although there will always be unforeseen circumstances, one thing is for sure – call centers in Angeles City will continue to operate, expand, and grow regardless of the situation.
